Burger King Proposed for Ramp Ford Lot in Port Jeff Station

The Terryville-Port Jefferson Civic Association saw multiple designs for a proposed Burger King to be built on the Ramp Ford truck lot on Route 347 in Port Jefferson, according to Charles F. McAteer, a civic member.
McAteer said that the attorney for Burger King, Timothy Shea, presented plans for the fast food restaurant last December.
The Burger King is being proposed for the Ramp Ford truck lot just east of the automotive dealership, next to Eager Beaver car wash on Route 347.
Some residents have expressed opposition of the proposed Burger King at that location, according to Laurie Green, vice president of the civic association.

Since the, "pink slime" exposure I won't be eating at any Burger King or McDonalds. I hope people support their locally owned restaurants and pass these places by.

For the uninitiated this is what "pink slime" is...at least according to "food activist" Jaimie Oliver...
(CBS) McDonald's is axing "pink slime" from its burgers, after receiving heat from celebrity chef and food activist Jamie Oliver, CBS This Morning reported.
What is pink slime? It's the name Oliver has given to fatty beef trimmings soaked in ammonium hydroxide, which removes bacteria and makes the beef taste better.
"We're taking a product that would be sold in its cheaper form for dogs," Oliver said on his TV show, Food Revolution, where he demonstrated the practice. "After this process, we can give it to humans."
The technique is approved by the United States Department of Agriculture and the Food and Drug Administration.
Last week, McDonald's announced it's no longer using the beef product, although the chain said in a statement that this decision "was not related to any particular event." Taco Bell and Burger King have also agreed to stop using the additive, according to the Huffington Post.
Oliver isn't the only one to raise issue with the controversial "slime." The New York Times questioned the safety of the process in 2009.

This is a "perfect fit" again, along with the new liquor store that's, allegedly, going in where Blockbuster's was, near the Rail.
Isn't this an "imaginative choice" for that "redevelopment plan" they have going for Upper Port ?
Just slap 'em in, and slap 'em out when they close !
Oh yeah, what "visionary" use of the valuable land in this particular area but then it's nothing but a "pave-topped paradise" there anyway, so who is going to notice ?

I've been thinking what that stretch of 347 really needs is more traffic and more people slamming on their brakes to make a right into fast food places. Wendy's, Taco Bell, Panera, Dunkin Donuts, now Burger King and across the street McDonalds. Plus 3 traffic lights in about half a mile of roadway and the worst intersection ever at 112. This is fantastic city planning in action.
But at least there will be plenty of variety for the unwashed masses. 'Merica!

Bill, yes. When my family moved to Stony Brook (I was 2), my parents told me 347 had 5 lights between their house and NSP. Last time I checked there's now 37 between 112 and NSP.
Eventually I'm sure the town plans to put an automatic tax machine (red light camera) at the 112 intersection and say all the problems are fixed.

We live behind where Burger Brothers want to build their Burger King. They have assured us they will take care so there is no noise, no loitering, a beautiful 6 foot white fence between our properties and the Burger King, lighting will not shine in our backyards, and so on and so on. Oh yes we believe all of this - they "care" about the neighborhood! Really? So if you care about the neighborhood then why not look into the suggestions made by many members of the Civic Association and use the empty, abandoned stores/lots throughout PJS? There is the old 84 Lumber property, Thomas Dodge property, Jack in the Box, Arby's, North Shore Lincoln, to name a few sites that would be better utilized rather than sitting empty. Oh no, they HAVE to be right across from MacDonalds because (in Burger Brothers words) "someone in the car may want Macdonalds and someone else will want Burger King." Apparently Burger Brothers do not drive down 347 - making a turn from one to the other is no easy feat - very few, if any, will risk their lives for a burger! Please everyone, come to the civic association meeting on February 28, 2012 and let's get together and SAY NO to this establishment. In this small corridor between Jayne Blvd. and Woodhull Avenue ther are a minimum of 16 eateries - do we really need another? Please help us!!!!
