Locals Help Bring Soldier's Dog to U.S. From Afghanistan [Photos]

Trigger landed in the United States on Thursday morning.

A local animal rescue group and a Port Jefferson Station dog training and day care center helped bring a soldier's adpoted dog to the U.S. from Afghanistan. Trigger arrived safe and sound at Emirates SkyCargo at JFK Airport Jamaica on Thursday morning.

Meredith Festa and the Guardians of Rescue were there to greet Trigger and bring him to Port Jefferson where he will spend some time at Hounds Town USA while waiting to be reunited with his owner, a soldier at Ft. Lewis in Washington state.

"He was just a big mush," said Festa about Trigger. "He was very happy to be out of the crate, see people, and stretch his legs."
