Petsco Sushi Roll a Big Seller at Kimi
Owners of sushi restaurant let locals make up their own roll.
Port Jefferson residents Melissa and John Petsco love to go out to eat sushi but when the owner of Kimi Japanese Restaurant on Main Street asked them to become part of the menu they were happily surprised. Now on the menu board is a roll called the Petsco Roll, invented by Melissa Petsco herself.
“I was shocked when they asked us to create it,” said Melissa Petsco.
Their custom-made creation is made up of eel, avocado and crunch inside with tuna and spicy mayo on top. The owners told the couple that the roll has been a best seller for the past two months.
Melissa Petsco, an agent at Jolie Powell Realty, said that it wasn’t all that hard to create.
“I created it. They made it. We ate it. They liked it. It worked,” she said. “You had to be there!”
Petsco says that she knows the owners well. Besides being a frequent customer, she's also the owner’s realtor and as chairperson for the annual Taste of Port Jefferson event, Kimi is one of the participating restaurants. The Petscos say they’ve been going out to eat at Kimi about twice a week for the past four years.
“The Four Year Roll is next,” she joked.
So, how does she like the roll that she created and Kimi named in their honor?
“I'm addicted,” she said.
Have you tried the Petsco Roll? What did you think?
