Port Jeff High School Places Second in Regional Science Bowl

Students from Port Jefferson High School competed in the 2012 Regional Science Bowl.

On Jan. 28, students from Port Jefferson High School showed up at Brookhaven National Lab to compete in the U.S. Department of Energy's 2012 Regional Science Bowl. Zachary Graziano, Isabella Sanders, Isabelle Stark and Weien Xu made up just one school team out of 20 selected participate in the competition this year. Port Jefferson placed second in its division.

According to its website, BNL hosts the Science Bowl every year for high school students across Long Island to compete in the national competition. The bowl is a round robin competition with a double elimination final round. Students are asked multiple choice and short answer questions about chemistry, biology, physics, mathematics, astronomy, and general, earth, and computer science.
