Update: Main Street Flooded

Mayor warns people to "stay home."

Mayor Margot Garant reported to Patch that water came over the bulkhead in downtown Port Jefferson and Main Street is now completely flooded.

"The three way intersection is beginning to flood and the tide is up to the bulkhead in the harbor and now beginning to come over," she said. "Dowtown flooding is definitely going to increase with high tide."

The area had been ahead of the storm and Mayor Garant said Port Jefferson was going to be closed on Sunday.

She also mentioned that she wants people to stay home and safe during the storm.
