Cooking Italian, Motivational Comedy Today in Port Jefferson

Good morning Port Jefferson. Here's what's happening in our community today.

-It's been a beautiful fall so far and another warm day is on tap. The National Weather Service, said today will be mostly cloudy, with a high near 70.

-Something's always cooking at the Port Jefferson Library. Grab a fork and settle in for some Italian Cooking. This program is presented by favorite local Chef Barbara Sheridan. Learn the fundamentals of Italian cooking. The dishes being prepared will include Tortellini en Brodo, Fettuccini Alfredo, Chicken Marsala and Zabaglione with Strawberries. 6:30 p.m.

-Comedian and motivational speaker Steve Rizzo, will be at the Mt. Sinai Congregational Church at 6:30 tonight. The popular speaker has shared the stage with Ellen DeGeneres, Jerry Seinfeld and Eddie Murphy.

-The Mt. Sinai School District was found to have excessive surplus funds during an audit by the state. Superintendent Enrico Crocetti last night at the board of education meeting and told parents why the district was above the allowable four percent excess. Check back later for the story.
