Unkept Yards, Blood Drives, Free Movie

Your guide to what's happening in the community.

Good morning Port Jefferson. Here’s a look at what’s happening in the area on Tuesday.

- Blogger Bob Makofsky shared his thoughts recently about some unsightly yards around town. While the village offers much that pleases the eye, he says, "it is also a concern that some resident(s) do so very little in the way of maintaining their own property which is also part of the village." What do you think? Have you noticed unkept yards around the village?

- The Port Jefferson Free Library will be holding a blood drive starting at 1 p.m. today. Interested donors are asked to call ahead to set up a time. Also, St. Charles Hospital is hosting a drive, which kicks off at 7 a.m.

- Local history buffs, check this out: you can personalize a brick of your own to help pay for renovation of a nearly-300-year-old home on North Country Road that once belonged to William Miller. Click here for more info.

- 'Wreck-It Ralph' will be showing for free tonight at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium at Stony Brook University at 6:30 p.m. Bring the family down!
