World Autism Awareness Day is April 2

Just about everyone knows someone with autism. Who do you know? Join the Comsewogue Library for World Autism Awareness Day on April 2.

World Autism Awareness Day was first declared an annual celebration by the United Nations in December of 2007. Each year on April 2, United Nations Member States look to raise awareness for the disorder that has affected millions across the globe.

This is one of three health-specific days recognized by the United Nations, mainly founded because of the disorder’s alarming growth rate (click here to view the World Autism Awareness Day UN Resolution). Communities worldwide are hosting events to bring attention to the disorder and encourage early diagnosis and intervention.   

Here at the , on Monday, April 2 from 7 - 8:30 p.m., we will be hosting our own event. Please join us as child development specialist, Sheri Fox will be discussing the latest research regarding the autism spectrum as well as grass roots efforts to ensure this important issue receives the attention it deserves. Bring your questions and leave with a wealth of knowledge regarding the resources available to you.  to register for this program. Advanced registration and a Suffolk Country library card is required.
