Enjoying the Sounds of College Strings

Port Jefferson School District’s fourth- and fifth-grade orchestra students had the opportunity to hear the sounds of Stony Brook University’s chamber orchestra, which performed select pieces from Kodaly, Mozart and Penderecki, on May 8.

The recital to which the students were treated was part of an annual series of concerts performed at the Staller Center, featuring Stony Brook University graduate students and members of the Emerson String Quartet, through the Staller Center’s Outreach Endowment program.

Port Jefferson’s music department said the opportunity was a great experience for students to see chamber ensembles in a live performance setting.
