Harbor Country Day School Announces Science Fair Winners

St. James, NY…

Harbor Country Day School (www.hcdsny.org, St. James, NY), one of Long Island’s premier independent schools for preschool through eighth grade, recently held a Science Fair for Grades K-7 in the school’s gymnasium. Students competed in three divisions: K-2nd Grade, 3rd Grade – 5th Grade, and 6th Grade-7th Grade. Harbor’s goals in holding the Science Fair were to give its students an opportunity to research and learn about something that interests them, learn problem-solving skills, improve their oral and written communication skills and strengthen their science process skills. Actively involved in coordinating the event were Kaitlin Dayton, Harbor’s Science Department/Lower School and Early Childhood School Teacher; and Brian O’Shaughnessy, Harbor’s Science Department/Upper School Teacher. Supervising the event were John Cissel, Assistant Head and Director of Upper School at Harbor; Christine McBrien, Admission Director and Director of Early Childhood/Lower School; and Debbie Decker, Director of Athletics and Student Life. The 1st place winners in each of the divisions will be invited to participate in the annual Brookhaven National Laboratory Elementary Science Fair.
