Port Jefferson Officials Mull Village Shuttle Idea

At last Monday's board of trustees business meeting, parking committee Chairman George Westbay proposed a village shuttle that would connect the different areas of Port Jefferson.

In particular, it would connect the Port Jefferson LIRR station to the village downtown making taking the train to Port Jefferson to either visit the village during the summer or catch the ferry to Bridgeport more appealing to travelers who might otherwise come to the village by car.

From what I read the shuttle is not going to be free. The lowlives are too busy hanging out drinking and dealing drugs uptown to bother to pay to do downtown.

I thought the wreathes go all the way to the tracks. Or maybe I just saw them before they all got stolen. Or maybe the village rightfully assumed that if they left anything of even the slightest value out at night up there it would get stolen or broken. Either way I don't really care because I moved out of this town after 8 years living in PJ Station. Between the school nonsense, the roadwork, the political issues, the crime, the vagrants and the failing businesses I listened to Kenny Rodgers and knew when to run.

One thing people did not mention: although, from Sheep Pasture Rd./North Country Rd. To the LIRR tracks IS part of the village of Port Jefferson....but, its area's children go to Comsewogue Schools.....another separation between the Village & Upper Port.

Yeah pretty ridiculous that that small area between N Country Rd and the tracks is Comseogue. They should rightly be sent to PJ schools. Just more crooked politics!

I guess the answer to solve all of PJ Villages issues would be to put a toll booth at the tracks. I can drop off all my money, and get fleeced without having to go into town and pay again and again for parking and any other silly crap the village wants. I stopped shopping there years ago. I get my haircut there and thatsz it. Internet sales for me now.
