Update: Trains Out of Port Jeff Back on Schedule

Switch and signal problems caused earlier delays of up to 40 minutes and canceled two trains.

Full service has been restored out of Port Jefferson on the Long Island Rail Road after switch and signal problems caused delays and cancelled train service earlier in the morning on Friday according to a rail road representative.

“At this point the branch is back on schedule,” said Sam Zambuto, an MTA representative.

At about 7:15 a.m. on Friday morning there was a switch and signal problem “in the vicinity of Smithtown on the Port Jefferson branch,” said Zambuto.
