A Bending Tree (Where Was This Photo Taken)

Walking around the village we captured this unusal sight of a tree stump bent in towards a small pond. No, it's not a Hobbit's house. (At least we don't think so.) If you can guess, tell us where this photo was taken in Port Jefferson village. Bonus if you can tell us a little bit of background on this tree.
