Comsewogue Student Donates Toys To Stony Brook Hospital

10-year-old donates $300 from her savings to help others in need.

Isabella Gordon, 10-year-old, from Comsewogue School District, decided to use the contents of her own piggy bank this year to purchase gifts to donate to the Stony Brook University Children's Hospital.

Gordon was able to collect over $300, which in turn inspired others to do the same. Several of the Gordon’s family and friends purchased additional gifts to add to Gordon's donations.

Gordon told her parents that she wanted to do something special for the children at the hospital who “helped me when I was sick."

Back in November 2011, Gordon was diagnosed with Epilepsy and spent three days in the ICU at Stony Brook Hospital. “Though she and her family were frightened, the staff did everything it could to allay our fears, and make Isabella comfortable" said Isabella’s mother, Ali Gordon.

Due to an experience full of kindness and smiles, Isabella gave back by providing the Children’s Hospital patients with a few more toys and activities to make them smile a little more this year.
