Dog Thrown from Van Safe at Shelter

A good samaritan saved a Weimaraner that was thrown from a van on Monday.

Local animal rescue groups are looking for help in finding the owners of a dog that was thrown from a van on Monday.

Willow, a purebred Weimaraner, was picked up by a woman who said the dog was thrown from a blue van in front of the Port Jefferson Station 7-Eleven on Monday.

Dory Scofield, director of Save-A-Pet in Port Jefferson Station said the woman saw the dog get thrown and was able to get her and bring her to the shelter, where she still remains.

"A nice woman grabbed her and brought her in. Her leash was still attached," said Scofield.

Scofield said the dog is wearing a beautiful blue and green, peacock colored collar with a dog tag that has Willow written on it in black marker. She said the dog is nervous and a little stressed out, but is in good condition.

"Someone out there knows what happened to this dog," said Scofield. "We just need to find them."
