FREE Swim Lessons for Military Families **Registration Required** email: Joining.Forces.Swim@gmail.com

Beginning Saturday, July 7, 2012, and every Saturday and Sunday thereafter for the month of July 2012, a local Water Safety Instructor and Lifeguard will lead an effort to provide free swim lessons to military families’ children, ages 4 through 10.  The School of Fish Swim & Scuba located in Rocky Point, NY is donating their facility for this effort for two half-hour sessions from 1pm – 2pm Saturdays and Sundays during the month of July.

Space in this program is limited.  Registration is on a first-come, first-serve basis and is limited to military service families only.

You may request registration by emailing the Joining Forces Program Head at Joining.Forces.Swim@gmail.com.  Please include your name and branch of service, your child’s name, child’s age and phone number where you can be reached to confirm your registration.  You will receive a phone call and email confirming your registration.  Because space is limited, your child is not guaranteed a space in this program; however, every effort will be made to include your child.

Joining Forces is the creation of First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Biden, who met with military families and were inspired by their sacrifices and courage.  Joining Forces is now a national initiative that mobilizes all sectors of society providing ways for all Americans to step up and show their gratitude to our service members and their families.  Through this effort, Mrs. Obama and Dr. Biden ask Americans to do more for those who have done so much for us.

Please visit www.whitehouse.gov/joiningforces for more information about other volunteer initiatives.
