Resdents came out to a planned meeting on Oct. 5 at Village Hall to further the conversation about the village's plans to revialize upper Port Jefferson. The discussion turned from planning of commercial development to safety and cleaning up the streets as people complained about increasing crime and vagrancy in the area.
One resident, who would not give her name, said she wants the village to first get the homeless off the streets and clean up the litter and traffic congestion. "Start with that, instead of more buildings, trolley carts," she said. "You know what, everybody? Say goodbye to your village, because it's becoming a city."
