Grab & Go Kids Planner: Bowl, See Lasers Juggled, Meet A-Listers and the Diary of a Wimpy Kid

We've assembled a calendar of kid-friendly activities and new places to try out with children this weekend.

You're time-pressed enough, so we're happy to do the research and find the best things to do and places to go, both locally and within reasonable striking distance.

Where/When: At on Saturday, March 18-20 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Why Go: If your kids love dogs and cats, why not adopt? Free adoptions of two of Save-A-Pet's "A" list dogs, Amber and Athena, and cats that have been at the shelter for more than one year. Get $50 cat spays and neuters at  C.L.I.F.F.S. Clinic (price also includes a rabies and distemper vaccine).

Pricing: Free adoption for "A" listers and cats at shelter for more than one year, $50 spays and neuters.

Where/When: At West Meadow Beach, in Setauket starting at 9 a.m. on Saturday.

Why Go: The winged winter visitors have arrived. These two-hour walks will highlight several species of ducks, dark-eyed juncos, kinglets, finches, white-throated sparrows, black-capped chickadees, and other winter residents.

Pricing: Free.

Where/When: On Saturdays and Sundays at bring the kids to bowl a few frames at Port Jeff Bowl.

Why Go: Nothing is more exciting than a double strike. Plus it’s a great way to get the kids away from the video games and out for some family fun bonding and exercise.

Pricing: From 9 a.m. to closing all games are $5.50 per person. Shoe rental: $3.50.

Where/When: , Sunday, March 27, 4 p.m.

Why Go:  Mark Nizer is a world-class juggler and comedian who makes the impossible possible and the improbable probable. Nizer will juggle lasers at 1000 rpm, electric carving knife and a 16- pound bowling ball. 3D glasses will be provided.

Pricing: Admission, $12.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid 2

Where/When: , Friday, March 25, 4:25, 7:00, 9:20; Saturday, March 26, 1:00, 3:55, 7:00, 9:30, Sunday, March 27, 1:00, 3:55, 7:00, 9:00. (All times p.m.)

Why Go: PJ says that this "sequel follows middle school student Greg Heffley, his older brother Rodrick, and the school talent show. Great family entertainment."

Pricing: Matinees $5, Adults $8.50, Children $5, Seniors $5.
