Hometown Teen Rock Band Debuts at Port Jeff Music Fest

Port Jeff high schoolers make up this rockin' hometown band.

They are four boys in a band, but we get the feeling that when HayWire lays down some Nirvana and Greenday, there will be no confusion with any boy bands.

The high-energy teen rock band will debut its original indie/alternative music at the 8th annual Port Jefferson American Music Festival this weekend. The band will be performing its songs on Sunday on the BID main stage along with covers by the Arctic Monkeys, Nirvana, Green Day and The Beatles.

HayWire has been performing professionally since 2011 at local music clubs, including Lulu's Village Pub and Port Jazz, and community events including the Port Jefferson Harvest Festival.

Members Chris Julich,  age 17, and 16-year-olds Josh Forgione, Alden Mohacsi and Andrew White all attend Port Jefferson’s Earl L. Vandermeulen High School.

“We’re excited to be able to join 34 other great performers at this event that celebrates American music and creativity,” said HayWire.  “We’re looking forward to sharing our songs – and our love of music with like minds.”
