Last Chance: To Be an Elf and Do Good Deeds

Children in grades 1 through 5 can become an elf and help those less fortunate.

The owners of Graceful Rose Restaurant in Port Jefferson are looking for a few good elves.

In an effort to spread holiday cheer all year long, the Morrison Foundation wants to bring 15 young people from Port Jefferson into their 364 Elfship team of "giving, helping, loving, caring and believing" little elves, according to an poster advertising their effort. The group will be initiated on Dec. 2 during the Port Jefferson Dickens Festival at Graceful Rose Restaurant on West Broadway at 3 p.m.

In order to be considered you must be a child from Port Jefferson in grades 1 through 5 and send them an email with the answers to the following questions:

  1. How would you help the world be a kinder place as an elf?
  2. What acts of kindness would you do?

Children who are chosen for the 364Elfship team will participate in their first act of kindness on Sunday afte rinittiation by helping to wrap presents for those who are less fortunate. According to the foundation, the children will also be given an "emblem chain of magic" and walk with Santa's sleigh during the Dickens Parade.
