Donate This Holiday Season Locally

A list of organizations accepting donations till the end of December

With December almost over and Christmas right around the corner, a lot of people feel this is the season of generosity. Many residents seek out charities to give donations to but don't know where to start.

Here is a list of some organizations looking for donations:

Toys for Tots is always looking for donations. This year they are requesting monetary donations through their website or an unwrapped/unopened gift at a local drop off spot. Right now, the most local place to drop off toys is in Amityville. Here is their personal donation website

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Long Island are looking for gently used items including clothing, coats, shoes, and small household products. Our Donation Center turns these items into much needed funding for our mentoring program. You can drop off items at the drop off location at the Port Jefferson Pax Christi Hospitality Center on 255 Oakland Avenue in Port Jefferson or at the Rocky Point 7-Eleven at 374 Route 25A, Rocky Point. If neither location is nearby, check out the organizations website to schedule an at home pick up.

Drop off canned or other non-perishable foods at any Long Island McDonald’s location through December 30th to benefit Island Harvest.

The Warm Coats & Warm Hearts campaign is collecting coats for men, women and children.
