Local Wedding Proposals Set the Bar Sky-High

Flash mobs and messages in a bottle among epic ways folks popped the question in Suffolk.

Dropping the ring in a glass of champagne just doesn't cut it anymore. In fact, the three local wedding proposals below should have any fiancé-to-be rethinking their own plans for popping the question.

Method: The Flash Mob

A Lindenhurst man surprised his girlfriend by organizing a well-coreographed flash mob. The dancing, the crowd gathering in the neighborhood and the very dramatic "reveal" made this one of those wedding proposals the community will talk about forever.

Method: Message in a Bottle

Paige Tyree thought it was just another romantic evening on the beach at Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park in Oyster Bay. Then boyfriend Porter Furman found a bottle with a message inside.

Furman, 38, of Oyster Bay, left his job early Friday to bury the bottle under a tree on the beach. When the couple arrived few hours later and spread out a blanket nearby, Furman "found" the bottle. We think you all know what the message was.

Method: In The Clouds

As a flight instructor at Long Island MacArthur Airport, Mike Nelson often brings his students flying around the New York City skyline. But this time it was his girlfriend Jessica Rispoli in the passenger's seat for a flight down the Hudson River.

Mid-fligh, Nelson, 22, asks Rispoli to read off a checklist to engage the autopilot. After Rispoli reads off a few instructions, Nelson tells her there's another checklist inside a pouch and that's when the Rispoli realizes what is about to go down. "I knew it, I knew it," Rispoli screams.
