Mather to Raffle an Anonymously Donated Classic Car

Proceeds to benefit Mather hospital fund.

is raffling off a 1957 Ford Ranchero on July 4 that was anonymously donated by a friend of hospital board member Wayne Rampone.

Rampone initially approached the hospital with an offer from a friend to donate the Ford Ranchero to see if there was interest. Terri Quinn, a Mather spokesperson, said that the hospital had to come up with ideas as to what to do with the classic car.

“We could have sold it or raffled it,” she said.

They decided on a raffle.

A description of the vehicle provided by the hospital said it was “more than a car or a truck, the Ranchero was a coupe utility and, unlike a pickup truck, it was adapted from a station wagon platform that integrated the cab and cargo bed into the body.”

The hospital said that only 508,355 Rancheros were made during its production run from 1957 and 1979.

Rampone is the owner of on Nesconset Highway in Port Jefferson Station and the car will be on display in the showroom throughout the month if anyone wants to look at it in person.

Only 600 tickets will be raffled off for $100 each and the winners do not need to be present at the drawing, which will take place on July 4 at noon in the front lobby of the hospital.

Proceeds from the ticket sales will go toward the hospital’s fund, which is used for “uninsured patients, equipment needs, and patient or nursing education,” said Quinn.

Raffle chances are available for sale online at www.matherhospital.org/ranchero or by calling the Public Affairs office at Mather Hospital at (631) 476-2723. Payment can be made by cash, check, or credit card.
