Mayor Garant Declares Snow Emergency In The Village

Mayor Garant said the village emergency regulations will become effective as soon as 2 inches of snow hit the ground in Port Jefferson.

Mayor Margot Garant has declared a snow emergency in the village. According to an email, Garant said that the snow emergency will take effect as soon as the town reaches 2 inches of snow, which might be as early as 3 p.m.

"No parking zones on Main and East Main will be enforced to assist with snow removal efforts. We ask that everyone please stay home an off the roads if possible as road conditions will continue to decline throughout the day," said Garant.

In the event of a snow emergency please call our code enforcement 774-0066, or the Department of Public works 473-4733, which will be open round the clock.

In addition, Garant said the village offices will be closing at 3:30 and opening tomorrow at 11:00 am. Village center will be closing today at 3:30 pm. No ice-skating this evening.
