Mickey Rooney Signs On To Do Local Film

The film is an independent true-life mystery thriller with the mission of raising awareness of the genius inventor, correcting history, continuing his research, and helping to save his Wardenclyffe lab.

FRAGMENTS FROM OLYMPUS-The Vision of Nikola Tesla, written by Joseph Sikorski and Michael Calomino, won "Best Screenplay" of the Long Island International Film Festival and was a "Quarter Finalist" in one of the USA's largest script contests, "The American Screenwriting Competition".

The popular teaser for the film, which Sikorski created for less than $700, competed with finished million-dollar productions to become a Semi-finalist at the 2011 International Movie Trailer Festival.
Now months later it looks like the film is not only going to get made, but has some powerful celebrity names behind it. Hollywood legend of film, television and stage Mickey Rooney has joined the cast of the independent production.

"Age is just a number," Rooney said in a statement. The new role, which is being kept secret by the film's producers, promises an ironic twist that will highlight a historical injustice committed against one of the greatest scientists who ever lived.

The film is set to begin production in New York, with rumors that filming might migrate over to Long Island, specifically Port Jefferson Station.

Stay tuned for more information from the Long Island Film Festival regarding this movie.
