More Than 200 Locals Face Power Outages

Storm leaves some residents in Terryville and Port Jefferson Station without power.

The sudden onslaught of afternoon thunderstorms has taken out electricity to some Terryville, Port Jefferson Station and Mt. Sinai residents.

Long Island Power Authority is reporting 2,702 customers without power in Suffolk County after a string of afternoon thunderstorms, largely along the North Shore, struck on Friday, according to its outage map.

There are 213 households without electricity in the greater Port Jefferson Station area as of 2:30 p.m., with close to 50 outages in the Mt. Sinai area.

LIPA is indicating that it hopes to restore all power to the area between 4:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.
