Mt. Sinai Resident Wins $1 Million Powerball Prize

Anthony Veraldi bought winning ticket at new Mobil gas station on Route 25A on the way home from dinner.

A quick stop to fill up his gas tank after dinner with his wife earned Mt. Sinai resident Anthony Veraldi a $1 million prize in New York Lotto’s Powerball this week.

In a statement released by New York Lotto, Veraldi said that he checked his numbers the next day but saved the announcement until he got home.

"I waited to tell my wife because I wanted to see the expression on her face," Veraldi said in the statement. "I did send her an email earlier in the day letting her know I had some great news to share when I got home."

Lotto officials says that Veraldi bought his winning ticket at the Mobil gas station at 5477 Nesconset Highway in Mt. Sinai. The gas station but reopened this past summer sporting .

New York Lotto said that the $1 million is paid out as a one-time lump sum payment. Veraldi will net $661,800 after withholdings.

He said that plans to use the money “enjoying life with his family.”

The New York Lottery also contributed $198,702,595.17 in Lottery Aid To Education to school districts throughout Suffolk County during fiscal year 2011-2012.
