Nearby: Where to Volunteer on Thanksgiving Day

Volunteers are needed at some local organizations to help serve on Thanksgiving Day.

Many of us will sit down with family and friends on Thanksgiving Day to enjoy a festive feast, but others in our area may not.

If you would like to volunteer your time on Thursday to help serve and volunteer, here is a list of organizations that will provide meals. Call ahead to see what their needs are before heading down.

Serving meals on Thursday from 12-3 p.m. Needs volunteers to serve and help in the kitchen.  

-Federation of Org. Power SK, 456 Waverly Ave., Patchogue, (631) 447-6460 x2114.  Serving meals on Thursday from 11 a.m.- 1 p.m. Call to see if volunteers are still needed.

-St. John’s Evang.Lutheran Church, 36 E. John St, Lindenhurst, (631)226-1274    Serving meals on Thursday beginning at 1 p.m. Call to see if help is still needed.

-While it's not specifically Thanksgiving-themed, St. James RC Church, located on Route 25A in East Setauket, holds a weekly dinner for those less fortunate on Sundays at 3 p.m.
