Suffolk County arson investigators are looking into a fire that broke out Monday morning at the Crossroads Plaza in Rocky Point.
The fire, which started about 9 a.m. happened on the second floor of the plaza above the now vacant Assaggio restaurant, according to Rocky Point Fire District Commissioner, Steve Tumulty.
A new executive has arrived at Stony Brook University hoping to commercialize discoveries that come from university research and development, according to a report published this week in Newsday. Peter Donnelly has been appointed director of the office of technology licensing and industry relations after holding a similar position at Argonne National Laboratory in Illinois.
Despite a letter sent home in August to students’ parents, the Bayport-Blue Point high school was the target of a rather intensive toilet papering effort on the opening day of school. Streams of paper blew from trees throughout the front lawn of the buildings on Snedecor Avenue Monday morning as school doors opened up.
