Original Owner Returns to Local Historian's Port Jeff Station Home

Blogger and historian meets family whose great grandfather built his house.

George Moraitis was so excited about meeting the original owners of his Market Street home in Port Jefferson Station, he blogged about it on Patch in a post titled "They're in Port Jeff!" back in June.

"After a long journey we will meet the Griffith family later this morning at the (Port Jefferson) Ferry as some are coming from Massachusetts," Moraitis wrote. "My home was built by Hal's Great-Grand Father and Grand-Uncles in 1932 and became his 'boyhood' home."

Moraitis went on in a follow up blog post to talk about a daughter in the Griffith family who was born in St. Charles Hospital back in 1950. He also shared a tidbit from his own family history.

"My Grand-father, Louis Poulos of South Setauket was part of the labor force in buidling the hospital in 1929," he said.

Moraitis wrote an article about his experience that was published in The Port Times Record in July.
