PHOTO: Fourth of July Bonfires on Cedar Beach

Residents along the beach in Mount Sinai lit enormous beach fires to celebrate the holiday.

Residents living near Cedar Beach in Mount Sinai lit bonfires all along the shoreline to celebrate the Fourth of July. Boaters were able to enjoy a great view from the water along with fireworks going off all over the North Shore to celebrate Independence Day.

Both Mount Sinai Fire Department and Town of Brookhaven said they do not issue permits for beach fires. A representative from the Town's Parks and Recreation Department said that private civic associations handle their own permitting for bonfires.

Enjoy this photo from Fourth of July of the bonfires that dotted the beach come dusk.
