Port Jeff Music Students Perform at 9/11 Memorial

Chorus group from elementary school sang for the firefighters at Port Jefferson Fire Department on Sunday.

On a day notable for its tragedy, voices from the chorus put a tinge of hope in the air during the 9/11 memorial service at the on Sunday.

The students sung “God Bless America” for the crowd gathered to pay their respects to the brave men and women who sacrificed their lives that day. They were led by their music teacher Ms. Meagan Finnerty.

Among those who were on hand for the performance at the ceremony were State senator, Kenneth LaValle, Brookhaven Town Councilman Steve Fiore-Rosenfeld, Brookhaven Superintendent of Highways John Rouse and Port Jefferson School District Superintendent Dr. Kenneth Bossert.

“The students were honored to be a part of the ceremony,” said Mike Caravello, Port Jefferson School District’s director of music and fine arts.
