Protesters Against Common Core Picket News 12 In Woodbury

Residents took to the streets in front of News 12 Long Island to let the governor know that Common Core Standards are unacceptable.

Protesters stood outside of the News 12 studio in Woodbury on Monday to demand Gov. Andrew Cuomo to fix or scrap the controversial new Common Core curriculum.

Those opposed to Common Core said they wanted to remind the governor that even with last week’s elimination of a duplicate math exam, they are still not satisfied with the new standards, the lack of funding, and the increase in high-stakes testing.

This is WE THE PEOPLE power...Locations across New York State coordinated their efforts at the same time, same day to tell CUOMO to ADDRESS THE MESS of educational reform. This is the biggest disaster this state is facing right now. And he has stuck his head in the stand or actually HID thus far.

Thank you to those courageous souls who braved the cold to "hold the fort" for those of us unable to make it (and there were many who wanted to be there but were not able to attend). The Governor and other elected officials need to listen to us - the parents, teachers and other supporters of this grassroots anti common core movement - we want Common Core gone. We vote for those who support our children, not for those who support bad education policy backed by corporate money grabbers! Thank you to Patch for reporting on this important protest!

All over New York State, WE THE PEOPLE were telling the Governor that we are DONE with Common Core and all that goes with it. No more hiding behind NYSED, Governor Cuomo. What say YOU?

Totally supported by the Socialist Barack Obama who said he would “fundamentally transform” the United States of America. He has failed at transforming America’s economy and America’s health care system. Are American parents willing to trust his plan to transform their children’s education?
