Soldier Born in Port Jefferson, Dies in Afghanistan
Brookhaven Town to hold memorial service for Army Staff Sergeant Frank E. Adamski III, who died in Kunar Province in Afghanistan.
Brookhaven Town Supervisor Mark Lesko and Rep. Tim Bishop, D-Southampton, will attend a memorial service hosted by Brookhaven Town in honor of Port Jefferson born Army Staff Sergeant Frank E. Adamski III who died in Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom. The service will be held in The Chalet at the Bald Hill Amphitheater in Farmingville on Thursday at 10 a.m.
According to an online obituary, Adamski was born in Port Jefferson on March 30, 1984 to Frank E. Adamski Jr. of Voluntown and Susan (Poppiti) Adamski of Port Jefferson. His family moved to Connecticut when he was 9 years old and he joined the army in March of 2005. Before going to Afghanistan he was deployed to Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom. In 2009, Adamski re-enlisted into the army and was stationed at Fort Campbell in Kentucky attached to the 101st Airborne Division.
He was killed in action on Tuesday, March 29, along with five other soldiers in his team.

Adamski was married and has a 1-year old daughter, Victoria Grace Adamski. He will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery.
