Suffolk Community College to Host Two-Person Art Show, Ruminations

The Suffolk County Community College's Gallery West is hosting a new two-person exhibition of paintings and other mixed media in a new show called, Ruminations.

The masterminds behind the show, Kristina Bloem and Frances Siegel, will be on hand at their opening at the gallery on Feb 13. 

According to a statement, a Long Island native, Bloem studied fine art at Parsons School of Design and has been involved with many decorative painting projects, in addition to working on her own paintings. Bloem makes her home in Riverhead."Growing up with a graphic designer father, art was always a big part of my world,” Bloem said.

Bloem's partner, Frances Siegel has shown her paintings, drawings and mixed media works in galleries world-wide, and in museums such as: the Minnesota Museum of Art, the Albrecht Museum of Fine Art, the Flint Institute of Arts, the Dishman Art Museum, and the American Academy of Arts and Letters according to Suffolk Community College.  Siegel is represented by the Prince Street Gallery in New York City where she has had several exhibitions.  Siegel lives in New York City’s Westbeth, the Artists' community and the Adirondack Mountains.

“During the many years that I worked with elementary-aged school children in a program I created and called ‘Our Place’, I had the daily opportunity to observe and support children fully engaged in what comes naturally to them: imaginative play,” Siegel said.  

Ruminations will open with a reception on Feb. 13 at 3:30 pm when both artists will be present to discuss and answer questions about their work.
