What to do for Halloween Fun Around Port Jeff

Our picks of things to do this month for spooky Halloween fun.

It's that time of year again. Ghosts haunt the streets of Port Jefferson. Jack-o-lanterns guard window sills and little goblins gather on front stoops hoping for treats.

To help you get in the spirit of the season, we've put together a list of things to do around Port Jefferson.

The studio is having a costume contest and staff performance to enjoy. Learn to dance and enjoy cocktails and refreshments.

will have a Kidsday Pumpkin Fun program for children ages 3 - 8 with a parent. This pumpkin filled day will consist of children decorating, carving and eating pumpkins. All children will leave with their very own decorated pumpkin.

Where/When: , Sunday, Oct. 23, 1:30 p.m.

At Fetch's Annual "Howl-o-Ween Parade," bring down your furry friend dressed in costume and participat. Humans encouraged to dress up as well. Prizes for best costumes and refreshments will be available for both humans and canines. Judy from the Pupparazzi will be on hand to take photos that can be purchased on site.

Activities include seasonal costumed characters and musical performances throughout the village, Costumed Dog Parade, Marshmallow Roast, Scarecrow Walk, Classic Car Exhibit, Pumpkin Decorating and other craft projectsParticipate in the Village restaurants’ Annual Chowder Tasting Competition.

 Need an excuse to dress up and enjoy amazing food and beer? The Fifth Season restaurant is hosting a Halloween Brewmaster’s Dinner with Rick Sobotka of Great South Bay Brewery. No tricks, but lots of beer themed treats.

Where/When: Saturday & Sunday, Oct. 29 & 30, 1 p.m.

On every witching hour of 1, 2, 3 and 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 29 and 30, at the Maritime Explorium in Port Jefferson, Witch Loreli will intrigue young sailors with her gift for keeping the water flowing. Let her absorb you into her colorful and captivating "drought stopper," then accept her challenge to enter her haunted ship to make your own. And remember,  before you disembark,  whisper  "Ahoy, Matey" into Loreli's ear. She will use her block & tackle to pull down your special treat from her crooked  crow's nest.

Enjoy a fall afternoon at the beach learning about fascinating marine denizens like killer sharks, poisonous fish, and lethal jellies.

Where/When: Port Jefferson Free Library, Saturday, Oct. 29, 2 p.m.

Annual Halloween Party and Parade for children and their parents. There will be a costume parade through the library followed by a magic show. Come dressed in your best Halloween finery. Meet in the basement and proceed throughout the building. Join the library for this fun tradition. Registration required.

Where/When: , Monday, Oct. 31, 2 p.m.

Come to Stony Brook Village with the whole family. There will be a costume parade, trick or treating and a display of scarecrows created for the annual scarecrow competition. Competition winners will be announced during the festival.

This Halloween Eve, come in costume and enjoy Benner's Farm Hay Rides. Catering to the younger goblins but fun for all ages 2 and up.

Youths from grades Pre-K to 5 who are Port Jefferson Residents and students of Port Jefferson School District, come to the Port Jefferson Country Club for a Halloween Party on Halloween night. Dancing from 5 - 7 p.m. Hayrides from dusk till 7:15 p.m.
