Unsolved Mysteries in Port Jefferson From 2011

Some things that happened in 2011 have yet to be resolved.

Not every story has a tidy ending. Some things just never get solved while others take months or years until we get to find out who-done-it or why. Here are stories that happened in Port Jefferson in 2011 that have yet to be resolved. If you can help solve these mysteries, then tell us about it. Back in the beginning of the year, signs reading “We Love Jamie Stevens” appeared on telephone poles in Port Jefferson virtually overnight and no ones has a clue what they mean. We still have yet to find out almost a year later.

In September, four people were robbed of cash while eating at the restaurant on Route 112. Police have yet to capture the man and have no other information available.

On Tuesday, Aug. 16, a went up in flames. Then on Sunday, Sept. 4 over the Labor Day weekend, on Sheep Pasture Road. In total, three firefighters were treated for minor injuries during those fires. The fires were classified as arson by the Suffolk County Police Arson Squad, according to the Brookhaven Town Fire Marshal. They are still under investigation.

Tragically, back in September, Teresa Coffey, of Port Jefferson Station and the infant she was babysitting, Michael Baldwin III, were found dead when Baldwin's father came back to his Huntington home. At the time, Suffolk Police Lt. Det. Gerard Pelkofsky said, "there is no reason to believe this is anything other than a terrible accident at this point in time" but a cause of death for Coffey was never released by authorities.
