UPDATE: Sightings Of Missing Dog, Marcy Gives Owners Hope

Residents setup traps to rescue lost dog that has been missing for days.

On Nov. 26, a family took to Facebook to ask residents to keep a look out for their missing dog, Marcy. She was recently adopted from Last Chance Animal Rescue. Shortly after her adoption, she was in the back yard and jumped the fence, taking off near William Street in Port Jefferson.

Marcy is wearing a purple hoodie and a pink collar with her owner’s information on a dog tag. She is currently wearing their old dog's tag, which has the name Sandy on it.

Since the Facebook post, sightings have been pouring in. Those possible sightings include: Feasts for Beasts in Mount Sinai, Pathmark on 347 near 112, and possibly Infant Jesus Church.

UPDATE: Dec 12, 5:49 p.m. -- From the rescue group: Marcy was seen again today and an experienced trapper is on the scene. If you hear anyone talking about going to look for her, please, please tell them not to search. We need her to stay put and people in the area will only make her move on.
