Louis Rowehl, 91, was at Heritage Park in Mt. Sinai on Friday to be honored for his service as a tank driver during WWII. He was even at Normandy during the invasion as a part of the 802nd Tank Destroyer Battalion.
Rowehl’s service didn’t end after the boys came home from over there either. He’s also still a captain in the Mt. Sinai Fire Department.
“I’m very proud of him,” said Noreen Rowehl, who accompanied her father to the ceremony. “I couldn’t ask for a better dad.”
