West Tuthill Street Became Maple Place in Port Jefferson Village

We asked you the name of the street in this historical photo.

On Monday we asked you to guess where this historical photo was taken. Technically two answers would be correct. This used to be called West Tuthill Street but the name was changed, according to village historian Ken Brady, to Maple Place. The photo is looking east toward Main Street.

Thank for everyone who took a guess. Come back next week for another historical picture.

The above photo was taken by local photographer Arthur S. Greene and comes from the Kenneth Brady Collection. Find thousands of historical photos in the digital archive of historical images on the Port Jefferson village website.
