Gary U.S. Bonds Concert in Port Jeff Postponed Due to Rain

Alternate stages planned for outdoor concerts during American Music Festival this weekend.

On Friday the Sixth Annual Port Jefferson American Music Festival was supposed to kick off with Gary "U.S." Bonds and his band performing an evening concert on the "- Stage" in front of the restaurants.

Jim Faith confirmed this afternoon that the concert has been rescheduled because of the expected rain on Friday. The new date will be Oct. 7 at  8 p.m. in the same place.

The rest of the weekend concerts will be ging off as planned with alternate locations for each of them.

"We have rain locations for everything on Saturday," said Faith.

If all goes according to plan, beginning at noon on Saturday and Sunday, performances will take place on three stages.

An “Acoustic Stage” in front of the , the “Chase Stage”, behind , and a “Main Stage” on the harbor across from .

If it rains, the “Main Stage” on the harbor will move to the deck at . Also, the “Acoustic Stage” stage goes to and the “Chase Stage” stage will be moved to 's porch. (Click here for more details and a map on the festival's official website.)

According to Faith the festival will feature "all American Music."

"We're having great bluegrass, folk, country, rock and jazz bands," he said. "At all locations we have nice diverse mix of high quality music on stage."

Over the weekend, the doors to the Hall of Fame's new digs will be open to view by the public for a little preview, although people will not be able to enter into the building just yet.

"We're going to hang a video screen there and people can peer in to get some information," he said. "A way to say hi to everybody."

Faith said that he plans on having the Hall of Fame open in "8 months to 1 year."

He said that fundraising will be abig part of putting together all of the elements that will go into opening the museum but that "people are stepping forward" to help.
