No Hard Knock Life For This Port Jeff Native Who Directed Annie

Credits his background in Port Jefferson school district for his success.

Tim Pappalardo just finished directing a production of Annie at the CM Performing Arts Center in Oakdale and is set to play Corny Collins in Hairspray running through March in the same theater.

Pappalardo got his start as an actor and director in the in the art and theater program. He spoke with Matt Calamia at the Port Times Record recently, telling him that his experience in the school's programs set him on a path in theater that has lasted more than 20 years.

"They saw in my classes with them that I was really interested in singing," Pappalardo told the paper. "They told my mother, so she started playing music in the house — musicals specifically. [Port Jefferson] had some really great teachers who were totally into it. It was a great environment."
