Port Jefferson Station Photographer Finds Beauty in a Blizzard

Michael Savini shot these pics of the snow last weekend through a Christmas ornament.

After the blizzard photographer Michael Savini thought he might take advantage of the snow. He went out to get a shot of a Christmas ornament hanging on an evergreen tree to get a good holiday themed picture.

“As I was shooting I noticed that I was getting neat effects from the reflection in the balls, and it made me think of a fantasy world of snow, literally a snow globe,” Savini said in an email to Patch.

The freelance photographer grasped the moment and created a piece of art from opportunity. Savini, who shot these pictures with an Olympus E-3, says he specializing in portraits but also shoots events and sports.

The photo also reminded him of something else.

“It also made me think of Citizen Kane, wherein Kane dies, the snow globe falling out of his hands,” he said.
