Stony Brook Film Festival Unveils its 2013 Lineup

Annual film festival to feature TWA Flight 800 documentary.

The Stony Brook Film Festival has released its 2013 lineup, revealing a mix of 20 films to be screened over a 10-day festival.

The 18th annual Stony Brook Film Festival will may be filmgoers only chance to see a unique mix of 20 independent features, documentaries, and short films produced around the world from July 18 to July 27.

"In the most competitive season in our eighteen-year festival, I felt we left a second festival on the cutting room floor. The entries this year, both in the shorts and features categories, were challenging, entertaining and full of discoveries," said Alan Inkles, founder and director of Stony Brook Film Festival.

This year's feature film will be TWA Flight 800, a documentary from EPIX premium network that revisits the 1996 catastrophic crash of the south shore of Long Island. Producer/director Kristina Borjesson, uses the film to explore the work of scientist Tom Stalcup who with retired officials spent years accessing documents and evidence in quest to find out what truly happened.

A career lifetime achievement award will also be presented to Christine Vachon of Killer Films, coinciding with the release of her new film Deep Powder which will be screened July 26. She has produced more than 70 films in less than 20 years to much acclaim.

Stony Brook Film Festival typically draws film lovers from all over Long Island to Stony Brook University's Staller Center for the Arts. Tickets cost $80 for a 10-day film pass, allowing priority entry, or can be purchased for individual films at $9 general admission, $7 student and seniors.
