UPDATE: Bicyclist Dies in Hit-and-Run Accident Thursday Night

Accident occurred at the intersection of Route 347 and Route 112.

UPDATE, 9:10 a.m.:

Police have identified the bicyclist struck by a hit-and-run driver as Bradford Packer, 51, of Port Jefferson Station. 

Packer was riding his bicycle north on Route 112 when a driver traveling west on Route 347 hit him and fled the scene. Police described the vehicle as a light-colored Hyundai sedan that would have significant front-end damage.

The Terryville Fire Department transported Packer to Mather Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

ORIGINAL STORY, 12:05 a.m.:

A driver struck and killed a bicyclist then fled the scene Thursday night in Terryville, Suffolk County police have confirmed.

Police have not yet identified the man who was killed.

The accident, which is being investigated by the SCPD's vehicular crime unit, happened at the intersection of Route 347 and Route 112 at 9:15 p.m.
