Automation Comes Standard in New Port Jeff Development

New York Times report on automation in homes includes Village Vistas.

When the 43 units in the age restricted development called Village Vistas in Port Jefferson are completed they will include many luxurious amenities. One of them, according to a recent New York Times story, will be wiring for high tech automation, a growing trend in home building.

In , Jimmy Tsunis of the Northwind Group, the developers of Village Vistas, said that the years of haggling with the village, Town and environmental groups was a blessing because they used that time to "design a better interior which has resulted in a superior product overall."

That interior includes the wiring for integrated technology in every unit they sell.

"The backbone to the home automation is standard, and the modules are optional," said Enrico Scarda in the New York Times. Scarda is a partner in the devleopment project.

The paper explained that Village Vistas will offer technology options like "$2,500, for a Web-based system including a basic alarm, lighting controls and an iPod dock in the master bath, to $15,000 for a full home theater on the lower level and centralized video that can be seen on any TV screen in the house."
