Building That Was Once a Funeral Home, Became a Restaurant Called Nine Doors

White building in Traders Cove was most recently Costa de Espana.

On Monday that opened in an East Main Street building after O.B. Davis Funeral Home left.

According to the Port Jefferson village archive, Nine Doors opened at 9 Traders Cove after being rennovated in 1977.

In 1981, The New York Times did an article on low salt diets and profiled Nine Doors.

The paper said that the restaurant received a review that commented on the blandness of the food because it cooked its dishes without salt.

''We began to receive more negative comments than positive ones,'' manager Bret Hensley told the paper. ''And the positive response was from people who were on salt-free diets.''
