SOUND BEACH

Is-A-Love Cafe Opens in Space Vacant for Two Years in Sound Beach

After Antonio's Prime Butcher closed in early 2011, Sound Beach had a vacancy in the business district on Echo Avenue for close two years.

That was until Adrianne Johansson found the location and opened up Is-A-Love Cafe. Something Sound Beach has been without, Johansson designed the cafe as a place where people can come and relax, without feeling rushed.

PORT JEFFERSON STATION

New Owner Revitalizes Port Jefferson Station Spa

Joe Sferlazza and his wife Marina have traveled all over the world – and in his latest venture, he has landed in Port Jefferson Station as the new owner of Euro Spa, which he said he has turned into an authentic European spa based on what he has seen in other countries.

The spa offers massages; a boutique; facials, peels and masks; clinical services such as laser hair removal, non-surgical facelifts, skin rejuvenation and vein therapy; and injectables such as Botox and Juvederm.

HAUPPAUGE

Smithtown Hot Yoga Moving to Hauppauge

Smithtown Hot Yoga will be moving to Hauppauge and will hold its last class in the Smithtown location Saturday.

In an email statement Friday, the yoga studio announced that they would be moving to 694 Motor Parkway in Hauppague. In the statement, ownership stated they were "operating at a loss every single month" since opening in the current location. The Hauppauge location will be open in "a month or more before," according to the statement.

SMITHTOWN

There are 20 restaurants in Smithtown, St. James and Nesconset participating in Smithtown Restaurant Week, which begins Sunday.

During the week, presetned by the Greater Smithtown Chamber of Commerce, locals could enjoy a three-course price fixed dinner at $25 per person at the participating restaurants. There are 29 restaurants total in the Town of Smithtown participating in the week. The event ends March 10.

Sarin Restaurant Temporarily Closes

STONY BROOK

After a lawsuit, construction and one final delay thanks to the February blizzard, the $30 million Hilton Garden Inn on the Stony Brook University campus has finally opened.

An ongoing story in the Stony Brook community, its original plans were mired in legal proceedings via a 2009 lawsuit brought by the Stony Brook Environmental Conservancy. In October of 2010, however, a judge lifted the restraining order that had blocked the developer from clearing the trees on the lot. Students at the university later protested the specific location of the hotel, saying the wooded lot should be preserved.

COMMACK

Commack Heats Up with Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza

Commack was red hot Wednesday as Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza started up its ovens for opening day.

The Commack site is the restaurant's fourth Long Island location on the island. Bruno plans to open three more within the next year.
