Chris and Elmina 'Rusty' Karras Owned Diner in Port Jefferson Station

We asked readers to guess who these business owners were.

Last week we asked you to guess who this couple was in the picture above. The photo was submitted by George Moraitis from his own collection and he provided us with the answer.

Chris and Elmina 'Rusty' Karras owned Chris' Diner that once stood where the Hess gas station now sits on Route 112. The diner was there from 1955 until the couple closed it in 1969.

"I had asked Chris of what happened to the diner building itself," Moraitis said. "It was knocked down and buried under the property."
