Forget About Getting Milk at This Drive-Through Dairy Store

What do you think would be good to go into this empty store in Port Jefferson Station?

If you’re in a rush and need a carton of milk or a loaf of bread, the drive-through dairy store is good alternative to convenience stores. The closed down D&M Drive-Thru Dairy Store on Route 112 across the street from has been on the market for more than three months, according to the real estate agent’s website.

It’s also advertised as being recently renovated and upgraded with new electric and walk-in cooler. Suggested uses from the agent are a drive up Starbucks or Checkers. Coffee might be a good idea since it’s on the way to the Port Jefferson train station on a busy road.

The 600 square food building sits on a 40 by 100 foot lot and goes for $349,000. Taxes are about $10,192.

What type of business do you think would be good at this former drive-through dairy store? Tell us in the comments.

If it wasn't in a messed up area, it would be rented out already. But PJS is starting to look like the Bronx.

What about the Old KFC on the corner? How long has that been an eyesore? What's the deal with that ?

In this case it's really not the people in the area, but rather the businesses....7-11, Hess mini mart, Bravo...The competition is fierce....How can a small independent meet or beat the deals that the chain shops can?....They can't, hence the reason the last owner was open for only a few months..,.

Don't have a clue why it remains boarded up, but I can say in the 25 years I've been in the area it has been closed and as you see it today

I believe it's zoned commercial. In Houston you could do it (no zoning laws), but not in Port Jeff Station.

i think a drive in dairy barn would be great again. sometimes you have to try it again. i know it would be great for my wife to stop there on the way home from work at mather hospital. the problem is the light situation. the dairy barn on middle country road and evergreen in selden does well and we use it still.
